Background:

Quseir Dive Site Management (QDSM) is non-profit organization based in El Quseir, Egypt participating in marine life monitoring and documentation programs to measure the abundance and variety of fish and invertebrate populations throughout the year in the Southern Red Sea. Additionally, QDSM identifies and creates shore diving sites in the region complete with signage, access, permanent site maps with refuse collection.

The trip starts at JFK airport in New York City on Saturday. Our group arrives in Cairo Airport in Egypt on Sunday morning and transfers to a four-star hotel near the Pyramids of Giza. We will spend 2 nights in Cairo to start our trip and 1 night at the end taking in the famous sites of the
area including the Pyramids of Giza and the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. We also stop in Luxor in central Egypt where Middle Kingdom Pharaohs reigned 4,500 years ago. Luxor is famous for King Tut's tomb and the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of the Nile, as well as the massive complexes of Karnak and Luxor Temple on the East Bank. Our tour of Egypt ends in Cairo with a dinner cruise on the famous Nile River.

Additional diving is available daily after project duties are completed. There are over 100 dive sites surrounding El Quseir all with one hours drive. Recommended add-on dive locations include the famous wrecks off the shipping port of Safaga and the famous pinnacle of Elphinstone off Marsa Alam. A highlight is an opportunity to dive at Marsa Abu Dubab with the local Dugongs (relative of the Florida Manatee).
